Le commerce équitable est un système d'échange visant à assurer des revenus décents aux paysans des pays en développement (PED) par des relations de solidarité directe avec les consommateurs du Nord. Il concerne la paysannerie dans son ensemble (production vivrière, matières premières, artisanat). La démarche de commerce équitable consiste en une action collective d'organisation de nouveaux chemins de production et de distribution pour le marché international, basés sur des normes sociales, économiques et environnementales propres .
